Helpline Mauritius at the 11th International Consultation of Child Helplines 2025
Helpline Mauritius proudly participated in the 11th International Consultation of Child Helplines 2025, hosted by Child Helpline International.
Theme: “Children at the Centre! A Global Voice for Mental Health, Violence Prevention and Response: Envisioning Child Helplines for 2030 and Beyond”
The Event was a unique opportunity for helpline members worldwide, including Helpline Mauritius, to connect and collaborate. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, debates, and knowledge-sharing sessions, focusing on issues pertinent to child helplines.
The event saw the participation of around 250 individuals, including representatives from child helplines globally, the UN, government officials, CSOs and NGOs, the telecom and technology sectors, children, youth advocates, health experts, and frontline workers. This diverse gathering aimed to foster relationships, exchange skills, and share best practices to enhance the effectiveness of child helplines worldwide.
At the end of the Consultation the Livingstone Declaration was adopted as a testament to the collective resolve to protect and empower children and young people. The pledge to transform these commitments into concrete actions, ensuring that every child’s voice is heard, valued and acted upon.
Helpline Mauritius is an online counselling portal designed to provide children with a safe, confidential, and private space to connect with counsellors. This initiative by Halley Movement, one of the earlier members of Child Helpline International, ensures that children have discreet and accessible support whenever they need it.
The Helpline service has been operating in Mauritius since 2010.
