Mauritius participates at Internet Governance Forum in Norway

Halley Movement Participates in IGF 2025 in Norway
Halley Movement, the lead organisation for Mauritius IGF, proudly participated in the 2025 Internet Governance Forum (IGF), held in Norway from June 23 to 27. This year’s forum marked the IGF’s 20th anniversary under the theme “Building Governance Together”, emphasising inclusive digital governance and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
The global event gathered participants from across the world to deliberate on the most pressing internet and digital policy challenges, ranging from universal internet access and human rights to internet fragmentation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

During the NRIs (National, Regional, Sub-regional, and Youth IGF Initiatives) Coordination Session, Mauritius IGF highlighted the success of its recent national event held in April under the theme: “AI, Cybersecurity, and Digital Trust: Pioneering a Secure Future.” This session provided an opportunity to share best practices and insights with representatives from over 177 global NRIs recognised by the IGF Secretariat.
Mauritius IGF also announced the upcoming School on Internet Governance, scheduled for November 2025, as part of its continued commitment to capacity building and education in digital governance.
Engaging in Dynamic Coalitions
Mauritius IGF also took part in sessions led by Dynamic Coalitions (DCs)—open, multistakeholder, community-driven groups focused on specific internet governance issues. Currently, there are 34 active DCs covering a wide range of topics, including environmental sustainability, digital health, internet rights and principles, child safety online, and innovative connectivity solutions.
At the Forum, Mauritius IGF showcased developments from the region and contributed to the Dynamic Coalition on Small Island Developing States (DC-SIDS), highlighting the unique digital governance challenges and opportunities faced by island nations.
Expected event related to DC-SIDS
Related to DC-SIDS, Mauritius IGF, supported by Halley Movement Coalition, has formally agreed to take forward the Dynamic Coalitions – Small Islands Development States (DC-SIDS), in the Indian Ocean region.
